August Jeremiah Johnson was born on Feb. 4, 1889, in Lake View, Utah County, Utah. He is the son of John Johnson. He served in the Eastern States Mission as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from Nov. 24, 1908 to Feb. 14, 1911. Johnson was married to Ruth Elva Taylor on May 14, 1913 in the Salt Lake Temple. She died on July 4, 1949. August then married Beatrice A. Henderson on Sept. 11, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple.
